Pigeonwood is a small tree particularly useful to bring the birds. Orange berries are eaten by native kereru (pigeon). Discovered in the Three Kings Islands and the North and South Islands however in the South island it is uncommon in the east, south of Kaikoura. This tree is wide ranging in the west reaching northern Fiordland.
A common forest tree of coastal and lowland forest, extending into mountain regions.
