Agathis australis

Kauri

This is a slow growing specimen tree suitable for a large garden. A kauri holds a neat pyramidal shape for many years. Needs protection from frosts while young as the natural habitat is the lowland and hilly forests near the North Cape to the Bay of Plenty.

Tāne Mahuta is the most famous kauri tree, it is estimated to be between 1,250 and 2,000 years old and stands at a height of 51m
